After catching 2 Supercross (indoor) events in the past year I thought it would be awesome to catch an outdoor event (Motocross) The closest outdoor event to home is Thunder Valley located just outside of Denver Colorado. To keep the miles off the truck and wear and tear the cost effective decision was to pick up a trusty Rav-4 from Hertz. Not the most exciting car on the road, but worthy of a simple road trip. Short day of work and about a 6 hr drive and we were there. To get the most out of the experience we opted for the camping option. Not necessarily the cheapest option due to the $125...

I had the opportunity to check out the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The brutal climb is the second longest running race in North America with 156 turns reaching the 14,115 foot peak. Sadly you need to pick 1 turn and stay put for obvious safety reasons . To get a good "seat" you need to leave your hotel around 3:00am to join the MASSIVE crowd. As per the feature post on Jalopnik: http://jalopnik.com/5816362/2011-pikes-peak-hill-climb-uber-gallery Be sure to "Like" my Facebook profile as well (http://www.facebook.com/TheFoxIdentity) Edit: Gallery part 2!

I got a fun project to snap some photos for an upcoming article in ABQ The Magazine. With the subject "bling" I picked a new 2011 BMW 335is Convertible. Not the most expensive BMW available, but the X6, X5M, and the new 6 Series are out of reach for most. With smoke plaguing the Sandias from the Wallow Fire in Arizona, Albuquerque is waking up every morning with a slight blanket of ash. I wasn't able to get the perfect clean backdrop, but the effect reminded me of one of my old warming filters I picked up years ago.

I just got my media credentials for Shark Fights at Santa Ana Casino and the AMA Motocross event in Lakewood Colorado. In my quest to put myself in just about every difficult situation with a camera I figured a few rounds of MMA would be perfect. As with a concert or many live events a flash won't be permitted. Hopefully Santa Ana Star Center has good lighting so I can freeze the action without going above ISO 3200. Outdoor motocross is just the icing on the cake. I have attended two indoor Supercross events in the past year, but this will be my first outdoor motocross event not counting...

I decided to check out a good friends band Good as Dead at the Launchpad in Albuquerque. It has been a while since I have been in a small venue like this with a camera, but I forgot how difficult it was. Sure I could cheat and use a flash, but respecting the band and crowd I decided to get creative. I can't remember the last time I went above ISO 3200. At the show I dabbled with the ISO at 6400 to stop the motion. Considering the poor lighting, high ISO, no tripod and no flash I am very happy with the results. Photos from the evening: Band: Good as Dead Venue: The Launchpad

After a 4" dusting of snow the Puerco was ready for a great ride. I hate the word epic, but this would qualify as one of those epic rides that I will be talking about for at least a year. Peter white Yamaha YZ250 w/red gear Andrew blue Yamaha YZ250 w/grey/orange gear

About 120mi south of Albuquerque you will find Magdalena. A small town with 2 motels and a Wells Fargo. If you daze off for about 45 seconds you will miss it. We had the opportunity ride some BMW G450x's provided by BMW of North America for the weekend. A total of 12 bikes were provided to take on Monticello Box Canyon. If you decide to check it out expect to get wet! 50+ water crossings and lots of flat track action on the roads. Just outside of Magdalena you will find the NORA VLA (Very Large Array). Your tax dollars at work playing a very expensive game of Marco Polo with outer...
